Travelling after experiencing a stroke.
Many people after suffering a stroke may experience a whole range of difficulties from mobility issues to general weakness. Airlines offer all kinds of assistance to passengers with Disabilities and we recommend you check out the assistance they offer before getting to the airport to make your journey as simple as possible.
There are risks of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) after surgery and medical advice should be sought for personal recommendations by your GP/Consultant.
What is a Stroke?
A stroke is a serious medical condition which can be life threatening. It occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off preventing blood and nerve signals travelling to the body causing external symptoms which may be recognised in the person’s behaviour, such as facial expressions or breathing. The sooner medical assistance can be sought during such an event the better, to prevent lasting disability.
Some patients are left with physical disabilities after such an event depending on the severity of the condition.
