Please see below the latest update from our underwriters TIF in regards to Hurricane Doris
Last updated 23/02/2017
Following the announced cancellation of a number of flights from Heathrow, and with the threat of increased extreme weather conditions throughout the UK, we here at Travel Insurance Facilities Group would like to clarify our position.
Cancellation of your trip
Due to the cancellation of the flights clients should check with their travel agents, tour operators and airlines for further information.
Travel Delay or Abandonment
Providing this is a benefit usually available under the policy we are happy to offer benefit for travel delay, or alternatively trip abandonment, after a 24 hour delay after check in of your flight. This applies to trips which began on or after 23rd February 2017 only and until normal service resumes.
If this benefit is not usually available under the policy in question this scenario would not apply.
If you are unable to get to your international departure point on time for check in due to delays or disruption of trains where possible please try and make alternative arrangements to get to the airport on time, alternatively you may be able to claim for missed departure but should try to obtain evidence of the delays – screen shots of departure delays on National Rail website, or photos of the live departure boards at train stations will be considered in the absence of any formal written evidence.
Extension of your Travel Insurance
Cover will be extended in the event of a delay or failure of public transport services during your trip which result in you being unable to complete your trip before your travel policy expires.
In the event that you have specific questions not answered by this directive, please feel free to contact us on directivesqueries@tif-plc.co.uk we will endeavour to offer an answer.
